Try running with "-v record" to see if you get any state change
messages. I don't know if this is related or is something completely
different but I see this all the time.

On the master, back-to-back recording will take a couple sec
to start the second but if a remote salve has back-to-back it
can take 15sec to over a minute to start the second. The longer
the first show, the longer the delay.

On the master I see this:

2004-03-14 22:00:00 Found changes in the todo list.
2004-03-14 22:00:20 Started recording "Southern California Sports Report" on cha
nnel: 1049 on cardid: 1, sourceid 1

Card 1 is on a remote slave and while it looks that the master
didn't try to start until twenty seconds after the hour, the
slave shows that it was waiting for the encoder to change states:

2004-03-14 20:59:59 Changing from None to RecordingOnly
2004-03-14 20:59:59 Using profile 'Default' to record
strange error flushing buffer ...
audio volume set to '65535'
2004-03-14 22:00:00 Changing from RecordingOnly to None
Can't read vbi data
2004-03-14 22:00:03 backend still changing state, waiting..
2004-03-14 22:00:20 changing state finished, starting now
2004-03-14 22:00:21 Changing from None to RecordingOnly
2004-03-14 22:00:21 Using profile 'Default' to record
strange error flushing buffer ...

I have 3sec preroll so the 9pm show starts 1 second early. The
show ends spot on 10pm and it looks like "Southern California
Sports Report" should have started at 22:00:03 but it was
"changing state" for the next 17sec according to the VB_RECORD
message.
