One thing I've been thinking of is also how better to utilize the
Recording Groups and it kinds fits in with your concern. I've always
felt it odd that recording groups hold the Menu button slot since that
button seems very "prominent" to me for such a small list of options.
I've tried to come up with a good UI method of showing the current
recording group and utilizing a left/right arrow method of changing
groups but it never seems to work right in my head. My other thought
has been to map the TOGGLERECORD button to cycle through the recording
groups similar to how the button cycles through the recording methods in
the EPG. In all honesty, the "/" button would be more appropriate to
mirror the favorites functionality of the EPG but I don't have that
mapped on my remote so it also seems odd to me.
But say we did have the group cycling on a button instead of MENU, this
would allow us to use both the MENU and INFO buttons to hold what is now
flowing over into two screens of menus from INFO. This would alleviate
your concern over two screens of menus, albeit, it would be two menus
but the functions could be logically grouped so that items on the
Advanced menu fall to the MENU button with the items most used now left
on the INFO button where people expect them. The only issue I see with
this is that something would need to be added to support the
configuration of the recording group passwords which would now be
orphaned. I've felt also that this belonged more in setup then in Watch
Recordings and maybe it could end up there.
Just some thoughts. Thanks again for your consideration.
