Hello Isaac,

I've read the ongoing discussion and I would like to try to convince you.

First of all, I agree that this is a complicated setup. I was looking for a
widget that would make it possible to compose an ordered list, until I saw the
filter settings field. The only difference with filter setting is that it puts a
default filter string when left blank. I could do this as well for the
aspect cycle list, making it more user friendly.

Before I came up with this solution, I was patching each Myth release since 0.1x
. Adding a setting explicitely would stop me from patching each release
explicitely (I hope to have some time soon and watch some television too ;-))
>From what I read, it seems that other people are also interested in having this
feature. With the increasing use of 16:9 broadcasts I think this feature will
even be more important in the future. If you say this duplicates existing
functionality, I don't agree : it _enhances_ it. Now it is like driving a car
with 5 gears where there are only 2 that work. It is very frustrating when
you only have one of those nice triptronic systems where you only have a gear
up and gear down button.

As for the argument of an extra setting : couldn't we merge the AspectOverride
with this setting ? You would specify a list of aspect ratios, where the first
is the one used when starting a VideoPlayer (this is what AspectOverride does I
believe).

I hope you consider my different arguments and hope that we can find a solution
that pleases everyone. For my part, I am willing to do anything within my
measure (read coding ;-)) to have a super triptronic system !

Ciaos,

Kristof
