[mythtv] MythTV: changing video types

Some HDTV channels do not broadcast 24 hours a day. While I want them in
the guide for when they are broadcasting, myth can get very confused when
told to switch to a "bad" channel.

Doug Larrick suggesting having the HDTV encoder generate a "blue screen",
when tuned to a "bad" channel.

I am working on this, but I have a problem. I am using ffmpeg to generate a
720x480 mpeg2 ES video stream. MythTV plays this stream just fine when
presented with it. The problem comes in when the channel is then changed to
a "good" channel. Mythfrontend gets very confused by the change from an
elementary mpeg2 stream, to a TS stream.

How do I get things in sync? Is there some call I need to make, to let the
myth system know that the video type has changed?

Thanks,

John
