The existing zoom mode stretches a 4:3 picture out to fill a 16:9 
viewing area, but a picture that is already 16:9 won't get stretched 
any further, at least not on the X axis. For a picture that is already 
16:9, switching to 16:9 zoom only stretches the Y axis.

I believe you're correct, the patch only stretches the X axis, but 
unlike the existing zoom modes, it takes a 16:9 picture, and stretches 
it out beyond the edges of the 16:9 screen on the X axis. Messy...
