I know that this has been discussed before, and that people simply
suggested a while-true loop, but I'm wondering if anyone has done
anything more specific for their own setup. If not, I may start doing
some serious poking around with safe_mysqld and adapt it for use with
mythbackend.

I say this because mythbackend crashed on me a week or so ago, and I
missed recording Stargate (my wife was sad until a friend of hers
offered to send a video tape - guess VCR's still have some use).

Anyway, it would be good to get something like this put into the
official distribution so we can avoid problems like this. safe_mysqld
has good tests for stuff, so for example if the pid file goes away, it
assumes that the program exited normally and will not restart it.
Unfortunately, there's some stuff in there that puts my knowledge of
bash and mysqld to the test, and I'm not entirely sure what all would
need to be changed to adapt it for myth.
