Much PowerPC work has been done for OS X; said patches are all in CVS.  
Search the gossamer-threads archives for "OS X" to see the history.  
Byte swapping and Altivec enhancements can be turned on in 
settings.pro.  There may be PPC bugs in X11-specific or 
backend-specific code, I don't recall hearing from PPC Linux developers 
lately.
