I've just made the switch from another media center style application to
MythTV and I have a few things I want to sink my teeth into and was just
going to check with you guys if anyone is working on it. It has mostly
to do with the music section and I would like to make the following
additions.
1. Better handling of albums. This includes support for albumcovers
which are really cool and a great "Wow" thing to show your other geek
friends. The albums can usually be grabbed using Google image search or
from Amazon, I have a script for this in the previous application which
could pretty easily be modified to handle this.
2. Better handling of genres and random playing. In my previous media
player I used (BTW, GlobeCom Jukebox which I was the original author of)
you can specify the weight of genres in the random selection. For
instance play rock songs half of the time and 25% pop and 25% rap. It
also weighed in how often the song got selected for playing and how long
ago it was it played to make the selection. You also had a pretty good
toplist where you can easily browse the songs you currently are
listening to a lot.
3. Support for music videos. Although these are video, the main thing in
them is the music and I think they should be organizable under the music
player with the visualization window replaced with the actual video.
Well, that's what I got so far. I'll probably figure out a few more as I
tinker more on this.
