Ok, this patch still doesn't completely solve the problem. I found
another program which has the problem with after this patch is
applied. I think the real problem is that the audio-format detection
algorithm is just wrong, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do
exactly. It's clearly misbehaving for some of my data files.
Isaac, is there some documentation (or a quick description) of
how the algorithm is SUPPOSED to work? Yes, the code is
relatively straightforward, but that doesn't mean the code
properly implements the detection algorithm, or perhaps
the algorithm is just wrong. I don't know, but without some
docs it's hard to determine.
I'm willing to take the time to look into this, but it would be nice
if I knew how it was _supposed_ to work. I could change it to look
for three samples in a row instead of two?
