Sorry to reply to my own message, but I found out at least one way it's
been done, and implemented that. The mencoder patch forces the aspect to
be 4:3 all the time, unless you modify code someplace to use 16:9.

Anyway, that having been done, I've started trying to link libmyth, and
have found that, as a library, libmyth doesn't really stand on its own.
Not sure yet what (if any) conflicts I'm going to run into here, but
thought I'd mention it.

Oh, it specifically requires that you have a global named gContext, as
MythContext* for those who are wondering why I made that statement.
