[mythtv] Occasional Segfault with CVS of MythTV

Hi.  Firstly, thanks to all the developers - MythTv is an absolutely fantastic system.  Can't wait to see how it develops!

In fact unable to wait for a proper 0.8 release, yesterday at about 4pm (UK time) I grabbed the CVS release via the gentoo cvs ebuild that was on the list a few days ago.  I am running on a dual CPU 1Ghz Intel machine, and occasionally (usually changing channels) the frontend interface freezes, and switching back to the console and killing the app shows a message:

	IOBOUND - blocking in ThreadedFileWriter::Write()

	[1]+ Segmentation fault mythbackend (wd: /usr/share/mythtv)

At this point the backend has died.

I can provide more debugging info if required.  I will also try rebuilding from CVS this evening to see if anything has been updated just before the proper release.

Aside from that a few minor issues that I came across:

- During setup I selected UK tv listings, however, the drop downs to select region did nothing.  In the console there was an error message (don't have it in front of me) to the effect of "--list-regions not supported option", which I assume is something to do with xmltv?  I am running version 0.58

- When viewing a TV program and pushing "m" I can see that the epg appears to have come up in the background, but the video display is still maximised and so I can't see anything...  (It has locked up a couple of times when doing this as well)

- I am running KDE 3.1 and the default is to have a launcher type bar at the bottom of the screen.  Lots of bits of mythtv realise that they should run in front of this bar, but some bits don't - for example mythmusic and mythweather

- I have had the frontend lock up a few times when fast forwarding or rewinding live tv.  However, this may be the same symptom as the first problem.

- Also, not a very scientific test, but the front end seems to be substantantially less responsive than with 0.7.  For example on my machine after opening up the frontend I am confronted with the main buttons to choose sections.  If I click "TV" it takes several seconds before the next screen appears which asks "Record, watch, etc".  Is this a function of the new frontend/backend architecture or did I set something up wrong...?  (I assume that compiler options would be the same between the 0.7 ebuild and the cvs ebuild...?)


Thanks again for such an excellent piece of software.  I hope that this is the correct place to report these minor issues?
