I was browsing the MythTV forum and happened to notice a post regarding
Dreamix.
"Dreamix is vaporware, furthermore, the people who claim to be making it
are making a 'custom ethernet tuner device' that will sell for 'around
$100'
which means that they're in it for the money. Considering a
$40-something
USB tuner, or an open source mythtv frontend would do just fine I don't
consider dreamix a viable solution to anything. The only proof that
anything
is happening is some "screenshots" on the sourceforge site they
registered,
unfortunately all of those images were created in photoshop, not from
screenshots."
The reasoning behind an Ethernet add-on is due to the fact that the Xbox
uses USB1.0. The speeds of USB1.0 are not sufficient enough for good
quality video. After reading the above quote from Poptix, it appears as
if he is not very familiar with the project. Dreamix is far from
vaporware. If any interested developers would like to see the source
code for Dreamix, feel free to contact me. One last thing, the first
release of Dreamix will be based on Debian. However, Dreamix can be
easily ported to both the Mac and Windows platforms.
