        The software does not create any playlists for you, but it does do 
things that are close. Want to hear a random track by a given artist? Go up 
to AllMy Music, and over to the artist. Hit 1 to set Random, then 
Space/Enter/Return (on the Artist). Every song by that artist will be played 
in random order.

        Other than that you can define any hierarchy of lists, and lists 
within lists (ad naseum), using four arrow keys and Space/Enter in Select 
Music. It's not clear to me the software should be doing anything more than 
providing these facilities ....
