[mythtv] Link frontend statically?

Hello,
I searched the archives but found only one post about linking Myth
statically which didn't quite answer my question.

I have a work laptop I do not want to mess with, so the only option to get
Linux running is a some sort of live CD (e.g. Knoppix, which works fine on
my laptop). Should booting Knoppix & starting a statically linked frontend
from e.g. a memory stick work?  Unfortunately my Linux box at home is
currently ripped apart, so I have no way to just try this out.

Any input is greatly appreciated!
