What do you mean with the "recording stuff"? That it won't compress in 
realtime? It has to, because otherwise, you cannot run on remote 
frontends. Think of the backend as a black box locked in the cellars. I 
don't think that the 1 second or so of delay I see during channel 
switching in Live TV is such a problem even during config. In other 
words, why bother?
