It is very awkward to me pressing the up/down remote directional buttons to 
change channels and the channel up/down remote buttons to seek when the 
left/right directional buttons are also used for seeking.  I could change my 
remote binds to fix this but then the EPG and gui feel awkward, pressing 
channel up/down to move up or down one increment while the up/down 
directional buttons do nothing in the gui and would change to PgUp/PgDown in 
the EPG.

If there is interest I will make a patch that'll have an option in the 
playback setup dialog to switch the behaviour of the buttons in tv-mode.  
That way people who're happy with the current behaviour won't be bothered but 
people with remotes like mine can use them as they're accustomed to.
