[mythtv] 1-column MythTV XML Theme menus

Hey guys!

I have long wanted to work on a theme that was a little bit "cleaner" and 
what not.. Personally, for me that means a single column with a list of 
things that is presented clearly..

A basic mockup of the TV menu, for example, can be found at: 
http://tarek.2y.net/myth/tvmenu.png . Simple enough concept..

However, I am running into the very solid wall limiting me to 2 columns..

So, the questions:

1) What sort of a limitation is this? Is it there for a reason, or just 
arbitrarily?

2) Has anybody been able to successfully bypass this particular limitation?


I understand that getting a menu laid out like the one in the png will be 
an uphill battle, but I'm willing to work on it with a little guidance..
