If myth can run without a window manager at all, you can do something similar
to my setup for mplayer. i use the attached scripts to play movies on my tv

/etc/X11/mplayer.initrc - initrc file specifically for playing movies
/usr/local/bin/TVmovie - sets up a temp file that contains the name/location
of the movie and starts X using the mplayer.initrc file

With these scripts, I just have add them as an action for movies to kde's file
manager(i use kde on my normal desktop),and I can just click on the movie to
play it on the tv :)

Oh, i have also attached my XF86Config-4 file so you can understand the
options I pass to X
