[mythtv] External Channel Changer

Hi- Is their anyway to set up an external channel changer to work with the 
television (coax cable) input? I tried commenting out the code in 
channel.cpp that affects this (it checks whether a cable is present, then 
tries to tune manually), but all that happens is my mythfrontend client 
disconnects w/ a connection time out.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

By the way, im using the most recent cvs version of myth.
