I'm using 4.2.1-12.1.  I guess that answers the question of whether 4.3.0
resolves this issue (we know it is caused by a missing 'etxern "C"'
clause, so it isn't a gcc bug).  Sorry, but I have enough trouble keeping
my system stable without running experimental, so that isn't an option
for me.
