I've cut alot here because I haven't got enough time to do a thorough
point by point run through. However, I basically think you're right that
merging with VDR would not be the best way to approach getting DVB support
in Myth.
As far as your plan goes I think that getting the hackish support working
only requires getting the MPEG data into Myth. External channel changing
can take care of the rest.
For the 'full' support in Myth I think its important to get the database
into a shape that fully encompases the data in channels.conf. I don't like
the idea of putting the channels.conf line in one field because external
channel changing will be good enough until we want full support and then I
think that the everything in one field approach is insufficient anyway.
Anyway I generally like what you are suggesting and I'm sorry that I
havent got the time right now to get involved properly and go into
detail (I will at the start of june).
Good luck to everybody trying to get this working.
