I don't fully understand the patch to mplayer. It seems
that there are limits to what you can convert to. I thought
I'd be able to use mencoder to convert to any format that
mencoder can write as, but it doesn't seem to be able to.

One of the things I want to do is create VCD's, and I see
that it can be done. No worries there.

But, I want to take recordings from MythTV and re-encode
them into some other format, or modify the resolution or
bitrate and I can't seem to get mencoder to do anything
with the Myth files other than "copy" the stream, which
means it hasn't changed anything.

Am I missing something, or is this just "the way it is"
(for now, I hope)?
