I stopped doing anything on it for now, since I got the
impression that someone else was going to clean up the
cvs.sql file to remove everything in there from before 
the 0.8 release.  I haven't looked at the "current CVS" 
in over a week, so I don't know if this has already 
been done.

I'd like to have this sorted out before the 0.9 release,
so that these changes to the database structure are done
long before changes to the code are made.  The change in 
field types won't break the current code, but changing
code before the fields are modified will be a problem.
 
Most of my energies are centered on finding a new job,
so I haven't been making much time for anything else.
