Hmm, I would get one if they really were faster, however, they are £200+ more expensive than the 2.8ghz.  Most of the real 3d and multimedia benchmarks show the 3.06 as slightly slower with hyper threading enabled.  The point seems to be that they have extra integer pipelines (I think?), but no extra FPU pipelines.  The hyperthreading is just a way to pump more instructions into the processor so that it can execute some extra ones if it feels like it, however, there is not really a second set of logic gates in there.  

Anyone got one to see if there is a useful speedup on myth type loads (or with Quake...).  The suggestion appears to be that PC3700 ram is likely to be more useful for multimedia work than HT?  Anyone care to comment on that?

P.S. I'm still looking for suggestions for a good reliable MB for a P4.  I'm thinking about the new intel 7205 boards.  Anyone know if they work without needing brain surgery on the kernel?
