I am just using KDE with RH8.  I forget what default wm it uses.
I have a laptop with the M7 version, maybe its different, maybe its
redhat, maybe kde is broke, who knows....

Yes, commenting out the strip lines fixed it.  Strange RH8 didn't get the
new QT, oh well....
