I think it's time to start putting together a list of the various bttv
options people are using with their tv cards as this seems to be a show
stopper for a lot of people. If we include that in the documentation, that
would certainly ease the pain of setting up mythtv ;-)

So, I'll volunteer to take on that task

If folks want to forward me the following info (off list please), I'll put it
together in a useful format

please send email with subject of "myth bttv options" so I can filter it.

1) Linux distro being used
2) Version of mythv being used
3) Tv card being used (brand and model)
4) Type of tuner on card (may be written on tuner or you may have to pry off
the metal shield and look on it's backside
5) Crystal on card (typically this is a small metal can (or two) near the
tuner with either 28 or 35 written on it)
6) Listing of your bttv related settings in /etc/modules.conf (for the rpm
based distro's like redhat and mandrake) and whatever passes for the
equivalent on your distro
7) Whether you are using devfs and any relevant lines from the devfsd conf
file.
8) Relevant section of your /var/log/messages (or equivalent) showing the
detection of the card and it's settings.

I think that covers most of the necessary stuff, if anyone can think of
anything else useful, send it on.
