[mythtv] Quality of TV out and vga to tv converters?

Have you tried nvtv yet?

I am able to get some seriously fantastic results with some patience and
tweaking.

Unfortunately, capturing a tv-out signal would be pretty tough here, so I
can't give a visual comparison.  You'll just have to take my word, I guess.
