If the Santa Cruz has good drivers, hopefully the Hercules Fortissimo 2
will, too, because they are both based on the same chip family. The SC is
the 4630, the F2 the 4624. I've got a couple of Fortissimo 2s in my other
boxes. I may give one a try if I have trouble.
I'm off some next week, so I'm going to try to clean off the drive for a
reformat and install.
Should I do a OS partition and then have Myth store its TV recording files
in a partition taking up the rest of the drive? I've always worked that way
in Windows, Ghosting the OS partition for quick recovery if something goes
wrong. I figured it might also make things easier if I decide to switch to
a bigger drive, too.
If I do that in Linux, what kind of OS partition size would I need? 3 or 4
GB to be safe?
