[mythtv] Illegal Operation (debian stable)

Greetings,

I'm attempting my first install of mythtv using the debian packages provided
by Matt.  I am running the current stable release of debian on an AMD k6-2
500 machine with 192 MB of RAM, a hauppauge wintv pci card, and a radeon
7500.

I installed all of the prerequisite debian packages according to Matt's
instructions.  I checked the settings.txt file for the proper settings and
ended up not modifying it.  I am now at the stage where I need to run the
mythtv-setup command.

I issue the command "su - mythtv -c mythtv-setup" and am propted with the
error "Illegal Operation".

Can anyone offer any assistance or direction?
