 Just for the records, this issue is still existing in v29.

 I have a personal patch which disables the jump keys in the player. So I
 have 8 more keys during playback. With one key I can toggle the different
 subtitles, with another key I can toggle enable/disable for that subtitle.
 Much faster than going through the menu.
