 I did not realize you can change deinterlacer via the OSD menu. I need to
 fix that.

 The VAAPI deinterlace is decoder based and the others are video output
 based. Selecting one of those others seems to add a second deinterlacer
 without stopping the VAAPI deinterlacer so it is not good.

 Thanks for pointing this out.

 Do people really need to change deinterlacer while playing? Perhaps if a
 VAAPI deinterlacer is currently running I will prevent that.
