 Could you clarify ? Is com-skipping active ?

 The OSD gets 'reset' on every resolution change. If it coincides with a
 com-skip notification (or subtitle) the OSD can be reset before it is
 seen. Just because you don't see anything it doesn't mean the OSD isn't
 active!

 That doesn't explain why it only happens on certain themes. Just saying it
 could be OSD-related (player thread doing OpenGL whilst resetting OSD ?)
