 I have a different workflow.

 I only use input connections to associate the data source with the
 relevant card,
 nothing else.

 All the scanning I do from the channel editor.
 - Select dvb source
 - Select "channel scan"
 - Set parameters. I mostly use "scan existing transports"
 - Then "scan"

 It does look like what the original poster was asking about is there,
 you just have to go to the right on the scan single transport.

 Anyway, i'll leave the original poster to comment on your method above.
