 I'm seeing something similar ... any settings screen with a text input, if
 I move focus to that text input, immediate crash.

 In the backtrace attached earlier, I see some frames of interest:

 I see the frontend terminating with "X11 fatal i/o error" when this
 happens.  The font list makes me wonder if the crash is dependent on the
 list of installed fonts.

 This may be a QT bug and not a MythTV bug?
