 No.  As stated, "fe80::21f:1fff:fe23:a434/64" is not a valid IP address,
 so in that scenario, the code reverts back to IPv4 operation.  Apparently
 the image downloads are run through a separate code path that bypasses the
 validity check, causing MythTV to try, and fail, to resolve that string as
 a hostname.
