 I am not sure if "quick workarounds" are welcome in a ticket, but I will
 risk it.

 Ive simply modified my startup to

 /usr/local/bin/mythwelcome --loglevel debug --logfile
 /var/log/mythtv/mythwelcome.log &

 sleep 4s ; killall mythshutdown

 Everything still seem to work (ACPI shutdown/wakeup etc)..
