 To be clear, did this hang?  It does seem to be maybe related to the
 database logging and not starting up fast enough.  I'll have to take a
 good look at that section of the code.  Not sure why it would hang though.

 If one of those mythshutdowns hangs and doesn't return, please grab a
 backtrace of it so we can look into why it's getting hung up.
