Comment:

 I will require backtraces from gdb to look into this very far.  If the
 crash is in the video driver, it is almost certainly not related to
 logging.

 As for short-lived processes, we will need to look into this, but if they
 are going to be logging, they will be using the same logging code as the
 rest of the application.  With some of the changes that Daniel's made to
 the logging since I've last looked at it, I'm not sure where this stands,
 but I'll take a look.
