Comment:

 Robert - I've spent enough time looking at the current streaming
 ringbuffer code to decide that it's just not fit for purpose. I'm going to
 re-write it along the lines of the Qt based approach taken by Lawrence
 Rust for the MHEG IPlayer patch (ticket #10019)
