 I suspect mythcommflag.
 I have what appears to be the same issue.  Was experiencing deadlocks and
 crashes almost daily.  Most crashes occurred approx. 15 minutes after
 digital recordings.  I changed the options for the mythcommflag process to
 be "-v none,important,database --nopercentage" and the system ran
 perfectly for over a week.  Today I removed the "database" option and the
 system crashed with the MYTH_PROTO_VERSION error within 2 hours.  The
 crash occurred 5 minutes after a mythcommflag job started.
