 I'm working on the premise that this is a threading issue. The OS X Qt
 version in use is clearly operating in a different way internally to the
 *nix version (and differently to the Qt version I'm using on my Macbook,
 which is a version of Qt 4.7 compiled with native Cocoa support).

 So, I'm going to need as much detail as you can give me with the output
 of:-

 mythfrontend --version

 mythfrontend -v playback

 mythfrontend -v all

 Ideally, for the last 2, can you try and identify/annotate in the log
 where the keypress happens. Keep it simple - start the frontend, start
 playing a recording, let it settle for a few seconds and then press one
 key (and one key only).

 Even more useful would be full backtraces from interrupting the frontend
 while it's stuck (i.e. run it in gdb and interrupt it or use something
 like QtCreator/XCode).
