 updated HEAD (Dec 19, 2011), same problem occurs after hours running,
 multiple good recordings, watching multiple recordings on (seperate)
 frontend. Backend keeps recording while problem emerges, but won't start
 new recordings.

 So what I see is that when this problem occurs, a single thread is
 blocking a core. Sorry, don't know how to identify this thread.
