 Wonderful...  This is the same nonsense I get, but most people don't seem
 to get.  I'm willing to venture a guess that your platform is very similar
 to mine...  Ubuntu 10.04?

 This line should have been:

 I have a horrible hack that I use to fix this, but it's not useful for
 what seems to be the majority of systems out there, and I haven't gotten
 enough data yet to determine what is causing this.  What seems to be
 happening:  normal exits work fine.  Exits by signal (i.e. killed) have
 the status byte swapped.  How it's happening is a mystery to me.

 However, at least you can kill...  it thinks you found 143 commercial
 flags, but the job is stopped.
