I have a few movies encoded in m4v. When I added them to my MythVideo's
library and tried to play them, after turning on subtitles, only the top
half of the 1st line on multi line subtitles and nothing on single line
events.
I uploaded a brief clip (1:42) that demonstrates this, it can be found at
http://drop.io/ikitvsh
Steps to recreate problem:
1. Download the file from http://drop.io/ikitvsh, the file is named
"sample.m4v", into your MythVideo storage group
2. Enter MythFrontend and then enter the "Watch Videos" page.
3. Scan for new media and play "sample"
4. Either use the hotkey "T" to turn on subtitles or use the menu
Subtitles -> Toggle Subtitles
Expected result:
For me I don't see any subtitles until 4 seconds into the recording. At
this point I see the top half of the string "And right there--you can see
it" (This is the first line of dialog I saw that was multi-line). At 8
seconds the subtitles go away (this line of dialog is brief enough that it
can fit in one subtitle line).
To confirm that the subtitles are present and functional you can use VLC
to play the file. To turn on subtitles in VLC, go to Video -> Subtitles
track -> Track 1 [English]. After doing that you should be able to watch
with subtitles enabled. You should see they are floating over the movie.
