 oh no! I just realised! I transcoded all those recordings yesterday to
 save space (part of the process in mytharchive was to transcode them too)
 - so they no longer have cut scenes, which I think may actually have been
 the cause of this error!

 ok I'll do a little experiment with some other recording (with the end cut
 off) and see if it fails - if it does, then I'll apply the patch and see
 if that fixes it...
