 It's not that XBMC is ignoring the version, it is that XBMC supports
 multiple protocol versions. Therefore it probes for the current protocol
 version (with a stated support of version 8), then re-authenticates at the
 correct version. This is the same thing that the mvpmc system (which also
 uses libcmyth, the same as XBMC) does.

 It may be some kind of interaction between libcmyth and the latest Myth
 protocol. However, from the log (attached), I can see no difference
 between how XBMC requests the guide data and how Mythfrontend does so.
