 The patch in #7644 should solve the problem. I created that ticket and
 attached the patch before r22881 and r22891 were reverted. Can I suggest
 that r22881,r22891 be re-applied and the patch attached to #7644 also be
 applied - this has fixed all playback issues for me personally.

 Note that #7644 clearly explains the problem and the fix.
