Thanks - the description pointed me in the right direction and I've re-
created the problem.
r19625 (colorkey/overlay fix) doesn't work if the overlay is not in use
and I'm guessing you have composite enabled (or one of the other
conditions that disables overlay - see the bottom of
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/180.22/README/appendix-h.html).
While I try and work out a fix, you can either:-
- try and get the overlay working.
- roll back to somewhere before r19625
- comment out lines 3797 to 3801 in videoout_xv.cpp
