Comment:

 I think I'm going to rewrite this one a little bit differently once we can
 handle metadata grabbing w/ the backend.  In the meantime, one should use
 Raymond Wagner's python export script.  These patches are out of date and
 I'm going to leave them that way until this can be done cleanly.
