 Robin, if you have time/motivation, feel free to:

 svn revert mythcdrom-linux.cpp
 patch < CDefficiency.fixes.patch
 make && sudo make install
 }}}
 and observe behaviour when media manually. I'm hoping this might reduce
 any race conditions (unless there is some other process on the system
 polling the CD, in which case, I'm stuck, and maybe we need a ps -ef). If
 anyone else also has time to test, please do!
